Grossman Worth a Chance

Rex Grossman is going to start at quarterback for the Redskins, via Kelli Johnson. That Donovan McNabb guy? Ya, he's perfectly healthy coming off one of his best games of the year last week against Tampa Bay. One could more easily justify the logic of the Redskin coaches if this were a move to see what their young quarterback has got after their playoff hopes have gone down the drain. But this is Rex Grossman, not exactly fresh off his final semester of college. Grossman is now 30 years old. Rex has proven over and over that he is not a good quarterback. His best quarterback rating is this season, where his only action was at the end of the game against the Lions when he fumble-sixed to lose the game. Still with all this evidence stacked against Rex, I'm not so sure this isn't the right move.

Bears fans certainly remember the year he led helped watched the Bears defense run back touchdown after touchdown en route to an NFC Championship. Grossman was mostly hated by Bears fans, because, well, he was mostly terrible. However, he wasn't all terrible.
Bad Rex trots off field

Grossman was notorious for being a hot and cold quarterback. He would follow up great games with atrocious performances. He would follow up a month, September 2006, in which he won "NFC Offensive Player of the Month" accolades with terrible decisions that led to Bears fans calling for Brian Griese. This caused many to attribute 2 personas to the quarterback: good Rex and bad Rex. But what if Rex has matured since the Bears days and can find consistency in an offense in which he feels comfortable? He's worked with Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan through his last season with the Texans. Maybe good Rex shows up for a long-term stay in Washington. It's a long shot, but if you're the Redskins, it's worth a chance.

  1. Rex Grossman is a god take all of that back. He got us to the super bowl, without him the 06 bears would have been mediocre. Anyone who tells you different is a liar. He had 8 ratings of 100 or higher and had 0 good recievers ever. The fact that he threw for one touchdown, not just 23, is a minor miracle. If you wanna criticize him it should be for his negative 4 recieving yards that season cause as it turns out he wasn't that much better than them at catching the ball. And oh yeah his rating was only 0 one game, thats not even that many. Plus he was really good in college and is only 6'1'' so you gotta cut him some slack for not being able to see that well. I don't see a bad rex anywhere in here. I see a good rex and a "he took his team to the fucking super bowl" rex. So if you ask me, he's a leader, which brings us to intangibles (things you can't touch) and those are off the charts. Like really high. He's good at those. Also, you can't say the defense ran back all the touchdowns because that doesn't give credit to Devin Hester, who, even if literate probably wouldn't read this, no offense, cause he did that a lot too. Also, I'm probably gonna boycott this blog unless there's an article about derrick rose being the NBA MVP favorite ASAP. Lotta abreviations in that last sentence, I hope you can handle it, the last thing this blog needs is to lose a contributer. So i'd get on that.

And ps, if you start to google Rex grossman (yeah i did some research for this comment) it the first suggestion after rex grossman is rex grossman jewish. While I don't know if he is jewish or not, i decided not to search that, just the idea that he could be means he probably had to fight through a lot of adversity and criticism, just another testament to how sweet he is.
